Jewish Family & Children’s Service Brighter Tomorrow Event

The Jewish Family and Children’s Service (JFCS) Brighter Tomorrow Event is the nonprofit organization’s annual signature event showcasing JFCS’ impact on the wellbeing of more than 40,000 people in the Valley.

Robert Sarver, owner of the Phoenix Suns and executive chairman of Western Alliance Bancorporation, will deliver the keynote address. Sarver is a dedicated philanthropist who is committed to supporting Arizona’s local community, both through Phoenix Suns Charities and his and his wife’s own personal contributions. Under Sarver’s leadership, Phoenix Suns Charities has granted more than $21 million to Arizona nonprofits in the areas of education, healthcare and sports

The mission of The Mission 31 Foundation is to provide opportunities, support and resources to seriously ill children and their families by offering daily support and life changing experiences. Proceeds from the event will subsidize David Johnson’s Locker, the signature community outreach program of The Johnson Family’s Mission 31 Foundation. David’s Lockers provide children with access to state-of-the-art technology and electronics in hospitals and schools. Having access to this technology, such as iPads, educational applications, video games, noise-cancelling headphones, and more, helps ease the pain of seriously and chronically ill children.

Tim Woods named 2020 Waste Management Phoenix Open chairman

The Thunderbirds, hosts of the Waste Management Phoenix Open Presented by The Ak-Chin Indian Community, have named Tim Woods tournament chairman for the 2020 edition of “The People’s Open,” which will be played Jan. 27 – Feb. 2, 2020, at TPC Scottsdale. Additionally, The Thunderbirds announced that Scott Jenkins has been named assistant tournament chairman for the 2020 event.

Woods will lead The Thunderbirds in the planning and execution of every facet of the 2020 event, including meeting with current and potential sponsors, recruiting PGA TOUR players to the event, community and sponsor relations, and developing new on-course venues.

Ace Hardware Foundation, Maricopa Ace Hardware make significant contribution to Phoenix Children’s Hospital

Ace Hardware locations around the country raise money through a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN). Maricopa Ace Hardware ranked No. 9 in the country for funds raised for CMN, of which Phoenix Children’s Hospital is one.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital received nearly $43,000 from Maricopa Ace Hardware.

Mike Richey, owner of the Maricopa Ace Hardware, and his team presented Phoenix Children’s Hospital with this valuable donation. Susan O’Donnell, senior development officer, accepted the donation on behalf of the hospital. Richey is a member of the board of the Maricopa Economic Development Alliance.

Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino unveils Campaign for the Cause

Campaign for the Cause

Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino, part of Caesars Entertainment and the state’s only tribal casino to have an international management partner, is coming together for its annual “Campaign for the Cause,” a month-long campaign that is aimed at raising awareness for both women’s and men’s health issues.

Through the program, employees participate in a variety of events throughout October including a “SuperHERO Battle for the Cause” fashion show and a parade through the casino.

Caesars Entertainment properties throughout the United States compete in their own Campaign for the Cause activities to raise money for their local American Cancer Society chapters.

Country star Lee Brice to headline 7th annual Weekend Jetaway

Tickets are now available for the 7th Weekend Jetaway, which will take place on Nov. 9, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and will feature live music from country superstar Lee Brice as well as culinary creations from Valley chefs, cocktails and casino games.

During the event, which benefits both Folds of Honor and The Challenge Foundation, guests will take part in a casino-style dice game, with one lucky winner earning a weekend trip to Las Vegas on a private jet. Tickets are on sale for $150 each, inclusive of food, full bar, game and concert.

Annual Red Nose Day

The fourth annual Red Nose Day, designed to help end child poverty, is Thursday, May 24. To participate, customers can visit more than 240 Walgreens locations in Arizona to purchase Red Noses for $1, buy other Red Nose Day merchandise or make cash donations.

Over its first three years, Red Nose Day has raised more than $100 million in the U.S., providing funds for nutritious meals, essential medicine, clean water and other vital aid and education-based services to children in America and around the world.

Red Nose Day is part of Walgreens cause platform, “Every One Counts.”
