Southwest Behavioral & Health Services offers Youth Mental Health First Aid training

Youth Mental Health First Aid

The training is free, but attendees must register at https://www.sbhservices.org/hr-trainings. The training will be held at the Southwest Behavioral & Health Services Administration Building, 3450 North 3rd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85012.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is designed to teach individuals how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.

YMHFA is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with youth. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches an action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

This training is provided at no cost through a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The next training is Oct. 2, 2019.
