Celebrations of mothers and motherhood can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who held festivals in honor of the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele.
This Sunday is Mother’s Day, where according to the National Retail Federation, 84% of U.S. adults are expected to celebrate Mom and those in our lives who take on the mom role. Seems we’ll be spending about $25 billion this year to show our love of mom. Candy, flowers, perfume and dinners top the list. But nothing beats a phone call … approximately 122 million phone calls will be made on Mother’s Day.
