After removing social media, cable news and limited email time, I determined I hadn’t been feeling overworked, I was overwhelmed. What’ve I done with my new-found time? I’ve increased affirmation time.
I’m more present at mealtime. Instead of screens, I look at my kids’ eyeballs and ask open-ended questions about their day. Sure, dinner with teenagers lasts six minutes before they jump to their busy schedules, but I’m there.
Then I turn to my wife, with whom I perhaps haven’t talked during the day. That’s key, because I know if I don’t, the next few hours will not go well.
