What is Christmas in July?

Ever heard of the idea of Christmas in July and wondered what and why? Well, the phenomenon started back in 1933 at a children’s camp in North Carolina, where the camp dedicated July 24 and 25 to the holiday – complete with carolers, gifts, a Christmas tree and even Santa.

Since hitting pop culture in 1940, folks still celebrate Christmas in July, or “Half Christmas,” as a respite from the summer heat and a chance to jump-start their holiday gift shopping while taking advantage of July sales.

So, escape the heat of the South this July by watching “The Polar Express.”
