There’s no denying that the IS 350 is slow for its segment. 0-60 in 5.6 seconds is positively glacial compared to the low 4s its European rivals are achieving.
But Lexus has never competed on speed. Even the $100,000 LC 500 is slower than a $50,000 Audi S4. Rather, Lexus competes on dependability and endurance.
So while the “hares” of the industry may have to stop in the dealership every few years for major servicing, the IS will keep going, and going, and going. Slow but steady, old but wise, the “Intelligent Sport” reminds us why the tortoise eventually won.
