The Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) will hold a workforce symposium, “Focused on Workforce,” on April 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at 2901 N. 7th St. in Phoenix.
Trevor Stokes, president of Regional Analysis Partners, will provide the keynote address during lunch. He will share his insight on how education and workforce development are becoming drivers for our state and share examples of best practices from across the country that align talent development with economic development. Dawn Grove, chair of Workforce Arizona Council, will also lead a session to share the state of the workforce in Arizona and address the state’s 2020-2024 Workforce Plan.
There will also be a panel discussion in which Jennifer Mellor, chief innovation officer for the Greater Phoenix Chamber, Brian Seppala, economic development analyst at Resolution Copper, and Katherine Pappas, director of workforce strategy at Partnership For Economic Innovation, will discuss “Mining For Talent in the 2020s,” which will cover innovative ways to address and solve recruitment issues and how to “mine” our future workforce.
The symposium will also feature a panel discussion, “Home is Where the Workforce Is,” with Sebra Choe, consultant with the town of Camp Verde workforce housing initiatives, Jeff Hays of USDA Rural Development’s Arizona rural home loan programs, and Sheree Bouchee, affordable housing advocate for the city of Phoenix Housing Department. The panel will explore creative workforce housing initiatives and programs to house the future workforce.
The cost of the symposium is $75 for AAED members and $100 for non-members if registered by noon on April 8. Late registration is $125. To register, visit http://www.aaed.com/event/april14. Vegetarian meals must be requested in advance. For more information, call AAED at (602) 240-AAED (2233), or visit www.aaed.com.
