12th Annual Walk to End Homelessness

UMOM’s Annual Walk the Walk to End Homelessness was founded by the Women’s Auxiliary and  is a fun, family-friendly event to raise awareness and financial support for families, single women and youth experiencing homelessness.

This year’s Walk is a special event to celebrate and honor UMOM supporters and volunteers who make it possible to provide help and hope to those who need it most in our community.

Join David & Meghan Johnson for an exciting night of bowling! Whether you are a pro or a first timer, expect a fun-filled evening of bowling, upscale bar food and drinks all in support of the Johnson Family’s Mission 31 Foundation!

The mission of The Mission 31 Foundation is to provide opportunities, support and resources to seriously ill children and their families by offering daily support and life changing experiences. Proceeds from the event will subsidize David Johnson’s Locker, the signature community outreach program of The Johnson Family’s Mission 31 Foundation. David’s Lockers provide children with access to state-of-the-art technology and electronics in hospitals and schools. Having access to this technology, such as iPads, educational applications, video games, noise-cancelling headphones, and more, helps ease the pain of seriously and chronically ill children.

Brighter Tomorrow Luncheon

WHAT:   The Jewish Family and Children’s Service (JFCS) Brighter Tomorrow Luncheon is an annual signature event showcasing JFCS’ impact on the wellbeing of over 40,000 people in the Valley.

Dr. Michael M Crow will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Brighter Tomorrow Luncheon

Dr. Michael M. Crow, the 16th president of Arizona State University who recently celebrated his 17th year in office, is the featured keynote speaker. Raised in a military family and having attended 18 schools before graduating high school, Dr. Crow is a proud first-generation college student whose personal education experiences have informed his vision of a university.

INFORMATION:    Held each year, the Brighter Tomorrow Luncheon is JFCS’ annual fundraising event.  Last year, more than $370,000 was raised to support a variety of programs including primary medical care, counseling and behavioral health, domestic violence victim assistance and Jewish community services.

Chairing the event this year will be Vicki and Howard Cabot.

Battle of the Bras

WHAT:

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino is hosting the popular Battle of the Bras fashion show on Saturday, October 26. The show is part of Campaign for the Cause, an annual effort to raise awareness and funds for women’s and men’s health issues.

The fashion show, which is free and open to the public, pits Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino and UltraStar Multi-Tainment Center employee teams against one another to determine the best bra and boxer short costume designs.

Caesars Entertainment properties throughout the United States compete with their own individual Campaign for the Cause activities and events to raise money for their local American Cancer Society chapters. At the conclusion of the campaign, Caesars Foundation will award a total of $25,000 to the local American Cancer Society chapters in recognition of the efforts of each of the top three participating properties.
