For years, when I’d talk with people in person, I’d notice their gaze drifting up toward my bald head. I’d wonder what it was they were noticing: my shiny skin, the one or two remaining hairs randomly growing on an otherwise barren landscape or perhaps the minor scars where I’d hit my head on a door frame.
Today, the same thing happens, and I still wonder what they are thinking – yet I am no longer bald.
