The Human Rights Campaign Municipal Equality Index (MEI), which examines how inclusive municipal laws, policies and services are for LGBTQ people who live and work locally, has awarded the city of Phoenix a perfect score for the seventh consecutive year.
Ten other Arizona cities were reviewed in the 2019 MEI and measured on a scale of 1 to 100, with Tempe and Tucson also receiving a perfect 100 score. The other cities included: Avondale (28), Chandler (58), Flagstaff (88), Gilbert (56), Glendale (62), Mesa (56), Peoria (23) and Scottsdale (64). Eighty-eight total cities nationwide scored 100. Fourteen cities scored zero points, including Rock Springs, Wyo. and Laredo, Tex.
