NAU’s ITEP Assisting Tribal Professionals Address Contamination on Their Lands

NAU’s ITEP Assisting Tribal Professionals

The Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals (ITEP) at NAU received a five-year, $2.45 million cooperative agreement from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Land and Emergency Management.

This funding allows ITEP to strengthen and expand its training, technical assistance and resources to Native American tribes and Alaskan Native villages, helping them address soil and hazardous waste, resource conservation, brownfields, Superfund, underground storage tanks and emergency response. The program supports a national Steering Committee of Tribal Professionals and the Tribal Superfund Working Groups, as well as the Tribal Lands and Environment Forum, a training event for tribal environmental professionals.
