Wallet Hub recently released a report ranking Massachusetts, Washington, Maryland, Colorado, California, Virginia, Utah, Delaware and Oregon – as well as the District of Columbia – the top 10 most innovative states in the country.
The report compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 24 key indicators of innovation-friendliness. The data set ranged from share of STEM professionals and research and development spending per capita to tech-company density.
Mississippi ranked as the least innovative in the nation, followed by Louisiana, Tennessee, Iowa, West Virginia, North Dakota and Hawaii.
Arizona ranked 16 overall, between Texas and New Mexico.
