How to make a fire safety plan

No one wants to think about the possibility of a fire in their home, but this is one situation where it definitely pays to be prepared:

• Plan multiple escape routes – Emergency exits can change depending on where a fire starts. Be sure to not only identify the fastest way out, but also have a contingency plan.

• Consider your household – Small children and pets may need assistance in the event of a fire, so know who in your home is responsible for others in advance.

• Practice – Stress of an emergency can easily ruin plans so practice your fire exit plan frequently.
