Many of the women served by the Fresh Start Women’s Foundation have children living in unstable situations.
One out of four children in Arizona live in poverty, and 79% of single parent families living below the poverty level are headed by women. To address this need, Fresh Start Women’s Foundation offers Girls Thriving, which provides middle and high school girls with holistic opportunities for social and emotional development, leadership and mentorship.
Last year, the program served 142 girls, with 87% reporting they learned how to build self-esteem; 88% reporting they learned about leadership skills; and 90% reporting critical knowledge gain.
