Copper State of Mind

copper state

What motivates you to take action? Is it reading about something in the newspaper that piques your interest? Is it seeing a story on television that does the trick? Perhaps it is being introduced to someone whose story is just the encouragement you need to get involved.

For some, motivation may result in volunteering for an organization or running for office. For others, it might mean registering for a 5K or taking up ballroom dancing.

September seems like the perfect time to get motivated. So shake off the summer vacation sluggishness and refocus on reaching your end-of-year goals.

From recycling bin to underbody skin: Ford recycles 1.2 billion plastic bottles every year for underbody vehicle parts

Ford recycles plastic

Ford was the first automaker to use recycled plastics for wheel liners on the European Escort. Over the last 12 years, aerodynamics has driven the need for underbody shields with the use of plastics in vehicle parts.

When you recycle, do you ever wonder where all that plastic ends up?

Ford Motor Company is playing a major role in promoting environmentally friendly auto parts. By using recycled plastic bottles for underbody shields on all cars and SUVs, and wheel liners on F-series trucks, Ford uses about 1.2 billion recycled plastic bottles per year – about 250 bottles per vehicle on average.

Due to its light weight, recycled plastic is ideal for the manufacture of underbody shields, engine under shield and front and rear wheel arch liners that can help improve vehicle aerodynamics, which effects fuel efficiency.

How to lead sustainable change

sustainable change

Most people think change is hard. In business, whether it’s a process change or cultural shift, managers are frustrated with the speed and success of change within organizations.

There are two kinds of change you can lead: reactive change and sustainable change. Reactive change means people change because they feel like they should, have a short-term incentive or are avoiding pain or consequences. As soon as the stimulus or threat is removed, they return to their regular habits or patterns. Sustainable change happens when people have a desire to develop the habits and patterns necessary to make the change.
