Barrow Innovation Center Using 3D Printer in COVID-19 Fight

think outside the box

Barrow Innovation Center, developed by Barrow Neurological Institute neurosurgery residents to tackle the unmet and unknown needs of the health care field, has been working on products to help combat the supply shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) as a result of COVID-19.

Among its biggest breakthroughs is an N95 substitute mask, a 3D-printed and silicone cast mask that seals around the face. At press time, 20 prototypes are in the process of collecting feedback from users. Detailed instructions – including no-cost downloadable files, a video tutorial and list of materials needed – on how to print the masks is available here.
