Presentations rely on structure, structure, structure

presentation structure

Not quite a master at giving presentations? Let structure be your best friend. Take a moment to think about all the presentations you’ve seen. What made the best and worst presentations either useful or disappointing?

Humans instinctively crave a path to follow. Before preparing, take time to seriously map out your thoughts in a clear and organized way. Countless speakers underestimate this important step.

Be deliberate about how your information all fits together. Give people “signposts” that help them follow your thinking. For example say, “These are three tips,” or “These are five trends.” Your audience will be more engaged.

The history of Krispy Kreme

Krispy Kreme

During the Great Depression, a young entrepreneur named Vernon Rudolph purchased a unique recipe for fluffy doughnuts. In 1937, he opened shop in Winston-Salem, and the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation was born.

Initially, Rudolph only sold to grocery stores, but passersby kept begging to buy them hot. In order to sell them right off the glazer, Rudolph cut a hole in the bakery wall.

Following Rudolph’s death in 1973, the company’s new owners began using cheaper ingredients. Thankfully, franchisees banded together to buy back Krispy Kreme and go back to using the original 1937 recipe (and the original sign).

Subway, Pioneer Title Agency surprise Boys & Girls Club

Boys & Girls Club

Subway Kids & Sports of Arizona and Pioneer Title Agency joined together on Dec. 7 to surprise nearly 60 children at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Flagstaff, delivering each child a bike, helmet, lock, clothing and gifts to help make their holiday season a little more merry and bright. The children and their parents were also treated to a Subway-catered party during the event.

The surprise was an extension of the Subway Kids & Sports’ Cycle for Success program, which awards children for random acts of kindness in schools, as well as Pioneer Title Agency in Action, Pioneer’s community relations arm.

“X” marks the spot: Generation X makes itself at home post-housing crisis

new homebuyers

Millennials make up the largest group of homebuyers, at 35 percent. Statistics don’t tell the full story. According to Lisa Davey of Washington Federal, a deeper dive shows the median age of Millennial buyers is 30-plus – on the cusp of Gen X.

In addition, Gen X buyers are in their peak earning years; thus their incomes are the highest among all generations. So, while Millennials might be more talked about, Gen X is the demographic making itself “at home” with major home deals and remodels statewide, thanks to a variety of smart financing and re-financing options available today.
