ACCEL Continues Providing Underserved Populations With Exceptional Educational Opportunities

Amid statewide school closures, educators are being challenged in unimaginable ways.

For ACCEL, a private, nonprofit organization serving children and adults who have developmental disabilities, distance learning is made even more challenging as many of its students rely on in-person physical, speech and occupational therapies.

Despite these difficulties, ACCEL has found innovative ways to continue delivering the high-quality special education that its students have come to expect. ACCEL interacts with 247 students per week by focusing efforts on remote individualized learning through video conferencing and online resources and creating adaptive instructional materials for families who may lack reliable internet access.
