If the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is a spicy pepperoni – and the pragmatic Stelvio is a veggie special – the all-new Tonale is definitely the automaker’s supreme pizza.
I say that because Alfa has piled on virtually every possible ingredient this time. The Tonale (“toe-nah-lay”) is a plug-in hybrid electric Italian compact crossover sports car, equally capable of braving Costco and the Fiorano racetrack.
My first impressions driving it (or “first bites”) were delicious. Alfa’s alluring styling, handling and interior design were all present, and while the performance was toned down, something had to go to make the car just $43k.
